Photoshop Tutorial: Adjust Brightness directly on your Image
Adjusting the brightness of an image is a common task in Photoshop. There are a few different ways to do this, but one of the easiest ways is to use the On-Image Adjustment Tool. This tool allows you to adjust the brightness of specific areas of an image, and it can be a great way to brighten up dark shadows or darken bright highlights.
Step 1: Open your image in Photoshop
The first step is to open the image that you want to adjust the brightness of in Adobe Photoshop. Once your image is open, make sure that the layer that you want to adjust is the active layer.
Step 2: Select the On-Image Adjustment Tool
The On-Image Adjustment Tool is located in the Tools Panel. To select it, click and hold on the Brightness/Contrast Tool icon until the On-Image Adjustment Tool is selected. The On-Image Adjustment Tool will appear as a hand with a finger pointing upwards.
Step 3: Adjust the brightness of your image
To adjust the brightness of your image, drag the On-Image Adjustment Tool over the area of the image that you want to brighten. The brightness of the area will be adjusted in real time as you drag. You can also adjust the brightness by clicking on the Plus (+) or Minus (-) buttons on the tool.
Step 4: Adjust the contrast of your image
If you want, you can also adjust the contrast of your image. To do this, click and hold on the Auto button on the On-Image Adjustment Tool until the Contrast button is selected. Then, drag the Contrast slider to the right to increase the contrast, or to the left to decrease the contrast.
Step 5: Save your changes
Once you are satisfied with the brightness and contrast of your image, you can save your changes. To do this, click the File menu and select Save.
