Dull photos can be a major disappointment. Whether they’re due to poor lighting, overexposure, or simply a lack of contrast, they can make your photos look lifeless and uninteresting. But there’s hope! With just a few simple adjustments in Lightroom, you can bring those dull photos back to life.

What are Clarity and Dehaze?

Clarity and Dehaze are two powerful tools in Lightroom that can help you add clarity and detail to your photos. Clarity selectively increases contrast in the midtones of your photo, which can help to accentuate details and textures. Dehaze, on the other hand, removes haze and fog from your photos, which can help to reveal hidden details and make your photos look more vibrant.

How to Use Clarity and Dehaze

To use Clarity and Dehaze, simply follow these steps:

Open your photo in Lightroom.
Go to the Effects panel.
Adjust the Clarity slider to your liking. A good starting point is around 25–50.
Adjust the Dehaze slider to your liking. A good starting point is around 10–25.
Be sure to not overdo it with either Clarity or Dehaze. Too much can make your photos look artificial.

Here are some examples of how to use Clarity and Dehaze to improve your photos:

Use Clarity to add detail to skin, hair, and clothing.
Use Clarity to add depth to landscapes and cityscapes.
Use Dehaze to improve the visibility of objects in hazy or foggy photos.
